1. Principle of data use and processing
Personal data are all data that relate to or at least can be related to a natural person and thus permit him or her to be identified.
We undertake to collect personal data only according to the fundamental principles of legality, purpose, transparency and need. We do not store personal data longer than necessary, and we follow the principles of correctness and currentness of data. Finally, we take organisational and technical measures to protect personal data.
As a matter of principle, we use your data to communicate with you and to provide our products and services, as well as to improve the use and contents of our websites. In addition, we use your data for administrative purposes, for system security, for product development and for research purposes.
We may disclose the data obtained from you to our affiliated companies as well as to third parties who assist us in providing our products and services or in improving our marketing or our administration. These include, among others, companies that create analyses of the use of our websites for us. Since we operate worldwide, the recipients of your data may be outside of the country in which you reside or are based, or in which we perform our services.
2. Collection of personal data during a visit to our websites
2.1 Browser data
When you visit our websites, we collect only the personal data that your browser transmits to our server. We collect only the data that are technically necessary for us in order to display our websites to you and to ensure stability and security, namely:
- IP address
- Date and time of the query
- Time zone difference to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
- Content of the request (specific page)
- Access status/HTTP status code
- The amount of data transmitted in each case
- Website from which the request originates
- Browser
- Operating system and its interface
- Language and version of the browser software
Not all of the above-mentioned data will necessarily actually be collected.
2.2 Cookies
In addition, when you use our websites, cookies will be stored on your computer. Cookies are text files stored on your hard disk so as to be associated with the browser you use, and through which we receive certain information, such as the name of the cookie, its value, expiration date, path, the internet domain, as well as information about the type of connection needed.
The cookies are intended to make use of our websites easier and more user-friendly for you.
Our websites use the following types of cookies:
Transient cookies (in particular those known as session cookies):
These save a so-called session ID. As a result, various queries from your browser can be assigned to the same session. Thus, your computer can be recognised when you return to our websites. As soon as you close the browser or log out, such session cookies are deleted.
Persistent cookies (in particular those known as tracking cookies):
Persistent cookies remember your preferred settings when you visit the websites again. These cookies also remain on the user's hard disk after the browser is closed until the deletion date specified for them. However, you can delete these cookies at any time in the security settings of your browser.
Most browsers allow the user to configure the acceptance of cookies according to the user's own needs and wishes. In this way, you can decide for yourself whether the web server of our websites may or may not store cookies on your computer. You can configure your browser anytime such that no cookies are accepted and stored. Instead, you may alternatively decide to have a warning message displayed each time prior to acceptance of a cookie, or configure the browser such that only cookies from certain websites are accepted. You may also at any time delete cookies that have already been stored. However, rejection of all cookies may lead to limitations in the functions or use of our websites.
3. Use of web analysis services
3.1 General
We use web analysis services to analyse the use of the websites in general, and to obtain indications for improving our online presence. The web analysis services use cookies to collect data. The information thus generated (such as IP address and browser type) can be transmitted in anonymised form to a server of the web analysis service domestically or abroad, and stored and processed there. By configuring your browser accordingly, or by setting an opt-out cookie from the respective web analy-sis service, you can prevent this service from setting cookies on your computer and collecting data.
3.2 Google Analytics
We are currently using Google Analytics on all the websites we operate. We use Google Analytics to be able to analyse and improve the use of our websites.
The statistic evaluations through Google Analytics allow us to improve our online presence and make it more interesting.
Google Analytics uses cookies that generate information on your use of these websites (see section 2.2 above for general information on cookies). As a basic principle, the information generated by the cookies of Google Analytics are transmitted to a server of Google in the USA and stored there. If IP anonymisation is enabled on our websites, your IP address will, however, be truncated beforehand by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other contract states of the treaty on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. On behalf of the operator of a website, this information is used to evaluate the use of the website, to compile reports on the website activities, and to provide the website operator with further services related to website use and Internet use. The IP address transmitted from your browser in the context of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data from Google.
You can prevent cookies from being stored by correspondingly configuring your browser software. However, preventing cookies from being stored may lead to limitations in the functions or use of our websites. You can also prevent the processing of data by Google. By doing so, the collection of the data generated by the cookie that relate to your use of the websites (including your IP address) is prevented. To do this, download the browser plug-in available at the following site and install it:

4. Use of social media plug-ins
We are currently using the following social media plug-ins: YouTube, Google+, LinkedIn. The plug-ins are intended to enable you to interact with us on social networks. Moreover, this helps us to improve our online presence and make it more interesting.
You can identify the provider of the plug-in by the logo. The plug-in provider receives the notification that you have accessed the corresponding website of our online presence only if you click on the logo and actuate it in this way. In addition, the data listed in this data privacy notice are transmitted. Xing states that it anonymises the IP address in Germany immediately after it is collected. As a result, personal data are transmitted to the respective plug-in provider by enabling the plug-in and stored there (in the USA in the case of US providers). Since the plug-in provider collects data, in particular via cookies, we recommend that you delete all cookies via your browser's security settings before clicking on the logo.
The data are transmitted, independently of whether you have an account with the plug-in provider or are logged in there. If you have an account and are logged in, the plug-in provider can directly associate the data collected with your account. If you want to avoid such association, then log out of the social network in question before actuating the logo button.
We do not have any influence on the data collected by the plug-in provider and their data processing operations. We do not have any detailed information on the extent of the data collection, the purpose of the processing, storage periods, or deletion of the data collected by the plug-in provider.
The plug-in provider may store the data collected about you as user profiles and use them for purposes of advertisement, market research and/or demand-oriented design of its website, independent of whether or not you have an account with this plug-in provider or whether you are logged into this account. Such evaluation may also be performed in particular (even for users who are not logged in) for purposes of needs-oriented advertising, and to inform other users of the social network of your activities on our websites. However, you have a right to object to creation of such user profiles. To exercise this right of objection, you must contact the respective plug-in provider.
Moreover, we refer to the data privacy notices of the respective plug-in providers:

This tool helps us to create targeted advertisements within the LinkedIn platform and to measure the effectiveness of these advertisements.
By using the LinkedIn Insight Tag, cookies are set on your device that enable the collection of pseudonymized data, such as the URL of the page visited, the referrer URL, IP address (in abbreviated form), device and browser characteristics and timestamps.
The data collected by the LinkedIn Insight Tag is anonymous to us, i.e. we do not receive any personal data about individual users. However, this data is stored and processed by LinkedIn so that a connection to the respective user profile is possible and LinkedIn can use the data for its own advertising purposes in accordance with the LinkedIn Privacy Policy.
